Clusters/Discourse
Clusters is the servus.at platform that connects members and promotes the exchange of ideas, feedback and projects. Here, discussions on various topics can be held, events can be announced, and art and research can be shared.
What does servus.at use clusters for?
Clusters aims to connect the numerous members of servus.at and serve as a platform for information exchange, feedback, and art and culture mediation. In addition, developments and disruptions to the servus.at infrastructure are communicated here.
Categories & Tags
The individual forums are called ‘Categories’ and form groups on specific topics. Within these categories, there are ‘Topics’, which further subdivide the supergroups and in which discussions can take place and posts can be made.

Topics can also be tagged, allowing them to be filtered outside of categories. For example, all topics with the event tag can be displayed, regardless of which category they are in.
Some categories of clusters are, for example:
- Open Calls
- Digital Parenting
- Feed Back & Forward
- Library – Gallery (Etwas zum Zeigen oder Forschungsergebnisse zum Teilen)
- LOOP (Ein Treffen der lokalen Servus/AMRO-Community, jeden dritten Mittwoch im Monat)
- Permacomputing
- Skill-Sharing
- …
Can I have my own Discourse instance?
Not always necessary: there are forum categories for closed groups.
User groups enable access to private forum categories as well as participation in discussions.
Can I still have my own Discourse instance?
If you have good reasons for doing so, as a servus.at member you are welcome to have your own Discourse instance. Maintenance, moderation, etc. will then be your responsibility.
However, a Discourse instance requires more resources than our standard membership covers, and we would appreciate a small contribution towards the costs. If you or your organisation do not have the highest financial resources, we will find a solution. If you are interested, please write to us at office@servus.at and we will discuss everything else directly.
How do I gain access?
If you are a member of servus.at and would like to join the Clusters community, send us a request to office@servus.at and we will send you an invitation link.
